For the first time the reunion got under way in the morning at 11 a.m. with registration. At 12 noon everybody moved into Eye Church for a short service and welcome from Chairman, Barry Dye. Father Andrew Mitcham officiated and some thoughtful and amusing reminiscences were offered by Mike Salt.
Gail's Country Catering provided an excellent lunch and tea while the Yaxley Cherry Tree's bar was in business all day.
The highlight of the day was the unveiling of the Eye Grammar School plaque on the wall of the school facing into Church Street. Mr R A B Parker was present while Miss Anne Fewkes unveiled the plaque. The plaque was bought with donations made by the EGOSA members.
Gifts were made to the three ladies who had travelled to the reunion from Australia and the USA and to David Chapman for his work for EGOSA.
A memorabilia display set out in one of the classrooms was again the centre of attention as those old stories and memories were exchanged through to the early evening when farewells were made until the next time.
Some research was carried out during the day about future reunions and it seems that the next time is likely to be in summer 2012 or 2013.
